1.Scope and contact
This Privacy Policy applies to the Tide VPN Android app and its VPN connection service, provided by Tide VPN Team (“we,” “us,” or “our”). It explains how the app handles information when you use it.
For support or privacy questions, contact [email protected].
2.We do not collect personal data
This version of Tide VPN does not collect, store, or share personal data. In particular:
- You do not need to create an account or provide an email address, name, or phone number.
- We do not log your browsing activity, the websites you visit, the content of your traffic, or your DNS queries.
- We do not store your IP address or link VPN connections to you or your device.
- The app does not contain advertising, analytics, or tracking services, and does not use your Advertising ID.
3.How the VPN connection works
When you connect, your internet traffic is encrypted between your device and the VPN server at the location you select, and then continues to its destination from that server. To route your traffic, the VPN server necessarily handles your connection, including your IP address, only while the connection is active. This information is not recorded or kept after it is used to route your traffic.
To show available VPN locations, the app requests the current location list from our servers. These requests do not include personal information, and we do not use them to identify you.
Because the VPN servers are located in different countries, your traffic passes through the country of the location you select.
4.Information stored on your device
The app stores your selected VPN location and up to 20 recent connection-history entries on your device so it can restore your choice and show your recent connections. This information stays on your device and is not sent to us.
You can remove it at any time by clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling the app.
5.Android permissions
VPN: To establish a VPN tunnel, Android asks you to approve a system VPN connection request. If you decline, the app cannot establish the tunnel.
Notifications: The app may request notification permission to display connection status. You can manage this permission independently of VPN approval through your device settings.
Nearby devices: The Share files feature may ask for the permissions Android requires to find and connect to nearby devices. These permissions are used only while you share files and only for that purpose. You can decline them and still use the VPN.
6.Share files and Speed test
Share files sends files directly between your device and the nearby device you choose. Files are not uploaded to our servers, and we cannot see them.
Speed test measures your connection by exchanging test data with a speed-test server. Your results are shown in the app and are not stored by us.
7.Third parties and legal requests
Because we do not collect or store personal data, we do not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties. We have no stored user records to provide in response to legal requests.
8.Your choices and rights
You can decline Android’s VPN connection request, manage app permissions through your device settings, and remove information stored on your device by clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling the app.
Because we do not hold personal data about you, there are normally no records for us to access, correct, or delete. If you have a question or request about your information, contact [email protected] and we will respond.
9.Security
Your traffic is encrypted between your device and the VPN server. We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect our service. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
10.Children
Tide VPN is not directed to children. Because the app does not collect personal data, it does not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you have concerns, please contact us.
11.Changes to this policy
This policy describes the current version of the app. If a future version changes how information is handled, for example by adding advertising or analytics, we will update this policy before that version is released, publish it with an updated date, and request consent where required by applicable law.
